Through 2027, Grok has four major goals:

  1. Explosive growth in weekly-active Imagineers and returning Ask customers (free + paid);
  2. Rapid expansion of products and services based on real use cases;
  3. Operational excellence across every engineering workstream;
  4. Relentless innovation in every AI vertical we are in.

Growing and strengthening customer relationships: We will continue investing in customer acquisition through free access to Imagine and paid access to more computationally expensive tiers of Ask.

The AI agent category is still in its infancy because LLMs fall short of human reasoning in everyday situations. Many customers are forming relationships with conversational AI for the first time, and our goal is for each customer to build stored value with Grok over time, such that we can personalize their experiences and make switching to other services costlier over time. This will include fun, but automated workflows that are use case-driven. For example, we will be adding an emoji picker in the Ask chat bar that allows for any user to access shortcuts for things like music recommendations or non-emergent health & wellness concerns. This will ultimately transcend culture and language.

We want to be the global brand that the average person trusts when it comes to conversational AI. This new creative canvas will encourage young Grok users and the young at heart to explore personality-driven Companions that make interacting with conversational AI tactile, expressive and intuitive.

Product and service expansion: Grok’s advantage over other AI platforms is Imaginative.

We will build a flywheel for the growth and creativity of Imagine by focusing our computer vision and imagination technology on real use cases. Specifically, we are investing in Avatars that help people who may not be as comfortable being the subjects of traditional video-based expression the confidence to participate in creative storytelling. We are also doubling down on our Animate Photos product experience to bring art and photography to life in fun and unexpected ways.

Imagine has not even scratched the surface on exploring the power of compute and range of creative experiences across iOS, Android and Web. We want our community of Imagineers to grow with our technology and plan to layer in greater bands of Creator payouts with each major platform update. Initially, we will do this on X, but we want to expand to other social networks and communities.

Additionally, Grok is building contextual intelligence as part of Ask. While most AI systems interpret text, Grok interprets public conversations within the social graph of X by translating communities, cultures and context – not just words.

Operational excellence: To us, operational excellence implies two things: delivering continuous improvement in customer experience for our Ask and Imagine verticals as well as spurring creative growth across our Community of Imagineers.

For the former, we will be methodological about each major update to Ask, which will focus on the presentation of information and what use cases we optimize for. For the latter, our moat is Imaginative AI in the crowded AI Agent race. We cannot lose our first-mover advantage.
